New Twists on an old Americana craft

From the days of building a crude guitar from whatever materials you had on hand, cigar box guitars are a true nod to the past.

The three stringers are usually set up with an open tuning, intended to be played slide style.

The four string rigs offer a wider array of tunings, and they can be tuned in "fifths", like those typically found on banjos, violins, and mandolins  -  "Guitar tuning" (or Chicago tuning") and ukelele tunings are also an option.
